Native to the tropical Americas, Calathea Makoyana is a relatively fast growing plant which can reach up to one metre in height.
Your Calathea is well suited to those low light areas in your home many other house plants dislike. Indeed, it’s happy almost anywhere but not in direct sunlight. Can be used in sheltered outdoor gardens, again out of direct sun. It’s important to keep this plant away from areas that are prone to draught as they prefer warm to hot temperatures ranging from 18-23 degrees.
Water regularly - little and often - but allow the plant to dry out slightly between waterings. Adding fertiliser to the weekly watering will keep it flourishing.
