Rimu Bookmark - Wheku

This bookmark from Revolution Aotearoa is crafted from solid, recycled native NZ Rimu timber, intricately adorned with engraved Maori design inspired by the traditional practice of Ta Moko (Maori tattoo). 

It blends contemporary form with classic, traditionally inspired Maori artistry and flair resonating with both present and past in a way that is nostalgic and undeniably authentic.

The focal element is the Wheku with captivating Paua shell eyes! The Wheku holds a revered position as a guardian, set upon the gable of traditional meeting houses where it watches over and protects the people who belong to that cherished ancestral dwelling.
