Say goodbye to plant flies! New to New Zealand come uBloomd Sticky Traps, the world's first green sticky traps for fungus gnats, white flies, fruit flies, thrips and aphids.
UBloomd were created in Australia. UBloomd comes in two designs, round and a monstera leaf design (that's this one). One UBloomd kit includes 10 stealth Sticky Traps.
UBloomd Sticky Traps are called 'stealth traps' because they sit discreetly in your plants down at the soil level where the adults lay their eggs. The adults are attracted to the colour and scent, get stuck and die on the trap. And with one adult laying up to 200 eggs, every catch is a big win for breaking the lifecycle.
There are two designs available. Original Round (that's this one), or new Monstera Leaf design. One uBloomed kit includes: 10 stealth sticky traps, 10 biodegradable wooden support sticks, and an instructions card, all neatly in a compostable slide-zip bag.
The traps measures 5cm across and the wooden support sticks are 10cm long.
How long do these last?
In uBloomd's tests a trap (once opened) stays sticky for up to 6 months. Unpeeled, stored in a cool, dry place, they can be used up a year after purchase, so you're safe to stock up. You may find yours stays sticky shorter or longer depending on your conditions.
One trap per infested plant is recommended, and because the Fungus Gnat lifecycle is as short as 17 days or as long as 4 to 5 weeks at different times of year, and treating them tends to take at least 2 lifecycles minimum, you'll want enough traps for at least 2 months based on 1 trap per infested plant.
