Bergamot is a small and sensitive citrus tree with fragrant fruit that are green/yellow in colour. Linked in origin to Lombardy, Italy, production today is mostly limited to the Ionian Sea coastal areas of the Reggio di Calabria provence. It is widely used as a general skin tonic by the cosmetic industry and therapeutically employed to relax and restore. Our Italian oil is cold-pressed from the rind.

Originally from South East Asia, it was first recorded in 1715 being sold as a fragrance in the city of Bergamot in Lombardy, Italy. Bergamot was historically used in natural medicine to treat fever and worms, and then as a scent for the body. Over time Bergamot has come to be appreciated for supporting states of composure and clarity.
Bergamot's tonic qualities have been applied extensively in the cosmetics industry to soaps, lotions and creams.
