Rimu Bookmark - Huia

This bookmark from Revolution Aotearoa is crafted from solid, recycled native NZ Rimu timber, intricately adorned with engraved Maori design inspired by the traditional practice of Ta Moko (Maori tattoo). 

It blends contemporary form with classic, traditionally inspired Maori artistry and flair resonating with both present and past in a way that is nostalgic and undeniably authentic.

The central feature are the Huia tail feathers. Huia were highly valued by Maori and were seen as symbols of leadership, prestige, and mana (spiritual power and authority). Possession and display of a Huia feather was restricted to those of high rank, and it was considered a great honour to be gifted one.
